Yesterday I went for a little walk, I went out the back entrance of my house, down the road and crossed over to Beresford Square.
The big main tree there was looking magical, covered in a streamer of knitted lightbulb covers!
(These used to be on display in the window of Oui Boutique in St Kevins Arcade, not sure if they are the same ones as those had a string of light bulbs in them.)

Then I continued on my walk, went to the post office and into the front entrance of my flat where I saw this little guy sitting in the palm tree right by the crossing.

Hope everything survived the rainy weather we had today though.

It was all done by Sharon Russell who is an AUT Visual Arts grad, whose artworks have been in Frankie mag! More about her here.

PS, I am totally addicted to this ice cream, a chocolate one with cookies and fudge in it. I accidentally bought a tub last week and its almost all gone! Whoops.

Just some pictures that I like right now.

Yum

I made biscuits*.

In case you haven't noticed, I like making heart shaped things.
I actually just made some meatballs, they aren't heart shaped though.

Since I'm home all the time now, I've been doing all sorts of things I never usually get around to...like listening to cds that I bought because they were cheap or borrowed from Matt and didn't get around to listening to. I'm really liking the new(ish) Tilly and the Wall cd, they are fun.
Also I always love Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, because they are rad.

*They actually look a lot nicer than they tasted, they were a bit bland. But I don't think anyone noticed because they were so pretty.

Trademe Time

So the stoop sale that me and Georgie had was a success, but I still have heaps of rad vintage stuff to get rid of, so its going up in my TradeMe store, some of it is already in fact! So you should check it out and bid bid bid!

Brainslaves and Broken Shoes

On Friday night (I had to think a minute what day it was then...oh the joys of being unemployed) I went and saw the Brainslaves and Brand New Math and Collapsing Cities DJs and it was pretty mint. Even better because I got in for free but would have totally been worth every pretty penny if I had paid!

I danced so hard that my shoes broke.
Not just one of them, both of them! My feet felt funny and then I realised one sole was flapping and the other one was already off!

It happened around 11.30 and I managed to last the rest of the night dancing, and then the walk to McD's and then the walk until I got home at 3.30am, so I think they're worth fixing.

I think this was the song playing when I realised they were goneburgers. Its pretty good, actually its really super awesome rad.

I also had a mad rave to this:

Fun night.

Hello Dolly!

Oh I haven't been here for a while.

I'm not ashamed to admit it but right now I'm a bit obsessed with Dolly Parton, in particular Jolene. There's quite a few different versions floating around on YouTube, but I liked this one with its split screen-double vision.

You should most definitely watch it.

This cover by Olivia Newton-John is also pretty good, especially the end. It's like country-disco. Plus her dress is AWESOME.

DELICIOUS!

The best thing about having a quiet Friday night?
Waking up early (well, early-ish) and making heart shaped pancakes with cream and jam!!

I don't want to starve

So I moved out and then for various reason had no internet for a few weeks.
But now I"m back online whoohoo.
Here are awesome things I'm selling on TradeMe so I can afford to eat, in case anyone would like to bid a lot of money for them:

There's way more awesome-ness listed, and about another two boxes of excellence to come so you should all have a looksie!

Secret Love Notes

I have no idea where most of these are from (the last one is something Matt wrote on his arm then sent me a picture of when I was away though), but I just realised they were all just hanging out in my inspiration folder waiting to be seen.

Whoopsy

So, its been a month since I was last here. I forgot and while I forgot, life happened.

Lots of exciting things like:
  • Christmas! Too much food and some presents like a lovely pair of shoes and a leather jacket.
  • New Years Eve! Was actually pretty uneventful, and I discovered that if I drink beer and then vodka, it makes me grumpy and argumentative.
  • Holiday! Went to the beach for a week with parents and sisters and cousins and aunties and babies and boyfriends (one mine, one my sisters) and did nothing except swim and eat and drink cold beer and play Risk and read and sleep in a tent.
  • Concert! The day after we came back, I went to see Metronomy and the Teenagers play. I thought the Teenagers were a bit ok, but Metronomy were amazing! and then last week was the Big Day Out, with Neil Young (NEIL YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and TV On The Radio and some other bands that I enjoy but care less about and it was great. Neil Young played for two hours! He bought an organ on tour with him! His encore was a cover of the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" and he shredded his guitar strings! and I just found out the Kills are coming in March, this year is shaping up to be full of good shows.
  • Work! I've just done some work experience for Ruby, it was fun and I made new crazy make-up scarves for their shops and stripped a few dead trees of their leaves. And now I'm working for another company, packing boxes to be shipped out to their retail stores, not that exciting but at least I'm getting paid! and soon there will be some more things going up in my TradeMe Store.
  • Moving! I all-of-a-sudden decided it was time to move out of home so this weekend (luckily its a long one) is all about packing for me. Ek, so exciting.
(PS, I have no idea where I picked up these pictures from, they're not mine but I can't remember who they do belong to, sorry!)

PANDA!

I want this so much! A frying pan that's also a panda, what more could a girl wish for?

(you can buy it for me here, please!)

This time last year...

I was in Brighton, England for Christmas, eating my way through a huge amount of food (baked apples + lemon curd on toast + champagne + roast chicken and veges + lemon mascarpone trifle +mulled wine + chocolate log + berry pavlova + lindt chocolate + more wine = very full all day) with two of my best friends.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Tangles

I think I'm instinctively drawn to hair like this because my hair will never ever look like this. Well, not unless I grow it for the next 10 years and then somehow tame the curls a bit.

And also maybe I like plaits because they look a bit like they're knitted!
